S.S. Regina D'Italia


The S.S. Regina D’Italia was built by Sir J. Laing & Sons January 20th, 1907. The first voyage run was from Genoa to Naples to Palermo to New York beginning May 15th, 1907. December of 1908 an earthquake hit Messina, Italy and the ship acted as a hospital container. After 1922, the vessel was transferred to the South American service until May 1924 when it returned to the Genoa to New York route for one voyage. In 1925, the Regina D’Italia took over operation of the Australian emigrant service. It was scrapped in Italy in October 1928.

Nicola “Nick” Fulgenzi (Born: 1894) was on this vessel in 1906 on his way to America from Naples. His father Biagio was waiting for him in Dawson, Illinois.
